Customer-Facing Display (CFD)

Add-on required. This feature requires the Customer Front Display add-on to be active on your store. View add-ons

A Customer-Facing Display is a second screen that faces your customer at the counter. It shows the live cart, running total, payment status, and a queue of recent orders.

What you need

  • Any screen that can run a web browser — an iPad, cheap Android tablet, an old laptop, a smart TV with a Chromecast, etc. A touchscreen is optional: it only adds a close button on the display so staff can clear the payment or summary screen there instead of from the register.
  • The CFD add-on active on your store
  • Fuze Store Hub is optional. CFD updates over the internet by default, so you can run a customer display with no Hub at all. Pairing a Hub (running on a shop computer, with your POS tablet paired to it) additionally routes updates over your local Wi-Fi for the fastest possible response, and keeps the display working through an internet outage.

Setting it up

1

Open the display URL on the second screen

On the CFD screen, open the Fuze Store mobile app and go to Displays → Customer Display (or on a browser, go to your store's CFD URL from Configurations → Display).

That's it — with the CFD add-on active, the customer screen starts receiving live updates over the internet right away. No Hub, no pairing step required.

2

(Optional) Pair with Fuze Store Hub for local-network speed

If you run a Fuze Store Hub in your shop, pairing your POS tablet to it gives the customer display an extra, faster path: updates travel over your local Wi-Fi instead of the internet, and the display keeps working even if your internet connection drops. Open Fuze Store → Displays → Customer Display on the POS and tap the pair icon, then scan the QR code from the CFD screen.

The two transports work together — the display always prefers the local connection when the Hub is paired and reachable, and automatically falls back to the internet whenever it isn't (Wi-Fi hiccup, Hub restarted, or no Hub at all). You never have to choose one or the other.

If the POS tablet has Use this Hub turned off, updates keep flowing over the internet — the local speed boost is simply unavailable until you turn Hub use back on.

3

Customize the idle screen

In Configurations → Display → Customer Display on the POS, you can choose what shows when no order is active:

  • Queue — rotating list of recent orders ready for pickup
  • Logo — your store logo on a full-screen background
  • Auto — queue during busy hours, logo otherwise

Does CFD need Fuze Store Hub?

No. The CFD add-on is the only requirement — the customer display works over the internet the moment it's active on your store, with no Hub involved. Pairing a Fuze Store Hub is entirely optional, and adds:

  • Instant local updates — cart changes appear on the display with no internet round-trip, when the Hub is paired and reachable
  • Works during internet outages — as long as both devices are on the same Wi-Fi
  • Lower cloud usage — while the Hub is connected, display updates for that device stay on your local network

If you don't have a Hub, or the Hub connection ever drops, the display automatically continues over the internet — there's no gap in service either way.
