Installing the Hub Certificate

Applies toEvery plan, including free BasicUsually owner

Your browser shows Not Secure on the Hub's https://localhost:18443 address because the Hub issues its own certificate. Installing it replaces the warning with a lock. This is optional: pairing, printing and displays work either way, and you can undo it at any time.

Before you start

  • The Hub running on the computer.

Steps

1

Download the certificate

On the Hub computer open Fuze Store Hub → Settings → Network → This shop's Hub certificate and click Download certificate.

What happens next

  • The lock applies to browsers on this computer only. Phones and tablets need nothing, since the app verifies the Hub a stronger way. Never install this file on a phone.

Edge cases

  • Chrome, Safari, Edge, Brave, Arc and Opera read the operating system's list, so one install covers them. Firefox keeps its own list and needs its own step.
  • The easy-to-get-wrong steps. On a Mac the dialog preselects iCloud, which copies the certificate to your iPhone, iPad and other Macs. System applies it to every user. Choose login. On Windows, leaving the store on automatic files it under Personal, where Windows ignores it, so the warning stays. Choose the store yourself.
  • Installed one before? Certificates issued before the security update need replacing: delete the old entry, download a fresh copy and install it. Nothing needs re-pairing. If the Hub regenerates its certificate later, copies you downloaded before stop working, so remove the old entry and install the new file.
  • Removing it. macOS: Keychain Access, find the entry, Delete. Windows: certmgr.msc, Trusted Root Certification Authorities, delete it. Linux: certutil -d sql:$HOME/.pki/nssdb -D -n "Fuze Store Hub".
  • Uninstalling the app does not remove it. Remove the certificate yourself, and if you are decommissioning the computer, delete the Hub's data folder too (Windows' uninstaller can: tick Also delete this computer's local Hub data, which also removes your audit log, print queue and kitchen data). The tidier route is Settings → Danger zone → Reset Fuze Store Hub with Also delete this store's local data ticked. No app can remove an operating-system trust entry for you.
  • Still showing the warning? The browser was already open. You are looking at the store website, which has its own public certificate. You are on a different computer. The file was out of date. On Windows it went into the wrong store. Or you use Firefox.
  • What you are trusting. The certificate is created on your Hub computer, belongs to your shop, and its private half never leaves it. It is locked to localhost, so it cannot vouch for any named website. Every download is in the Audit Log.
