Kitchen Display (KDS)
Fuze Store Hub can power a Kitchen Display System — a dedicated screen in the kitchen that shows every incoming order in real time, with timers, alerts, and color-coded urgency.
Two ways to use KDS
Cloud mode (default) — tickets sync through the Fuze Store cloud. Works even if Fuze Store Hub isn't running, as long as each kitchen device has internet.
Local mode — tickets live on Fuze Store Hub's local SQLite database and kitchen displays read them from the Hub over LAN (not from the cloud KDS socket). The Hub can still push a copy to the cloud when online. Recommended when your internet is unreliable, since the kitchen keeps working during outages.
Local mode is on by default once your store has the Kitchen Display add-on active — there's nothing to switch on during setup. You can turn it off any time from Settings → Modules.
Setting up KDS
KDS needs no separate token. Once your Fuze Store Hub is connected to your store (during Hub setup it gets its own secure connection), the kitchen display works automatically — there's nothing to copy or paste.
Turn on the Kitchen Display add-on
KDS is an add-on. Make sure it's active for your store under Account → Add-ons in the mobile app or the landing dashboard. (During a free trial it's included automatically.)
Connect Fuze Store Hub to your store
Install and pair Fuze Store Hub with your store. See First-Time Setup and Connecting to Your Store. The Hub's connection is the only credential KDS sync needs.
Local mode (kitchen screens read tickets from the Hub over LAN; Hub can still push a cloud copy when online — best for unreliable internet) is on by default. The toggle lives in Fuze Store Hub → Settings → Modules if you ever need to turn it off.
Open the kitchen screen
On a screen in the kitchen (an old iPad, a laptop, a Raspberry Pi, or even the same computer), open the mobile app and go to Fuze Store → Displays → Kitchen Display.
Tickets appear the moment orders are placed at the register.
What appears on the kitchen screen
- Ticket header: order number, customer name or table, time placed
- Items: quantity, modifiers, notes
- Status: Pending → Preparing → Completed
- Timer: elapsed since the ticket was created, color-coded by alert thresholds
Long-press a ticket to void or recall it. Changes sync back to the POS.
Monitoring sync
Open Fuze Store Hub → Kitchen Display. You'll see:
- Last sync — when Fuze Store Hub last pushed tickets to the cloud
- Unsynced — how many tickets are waiting (normally 0)
- Last error — empty unless something went wrong
If Unsynced keeps growing, check your internet connection and use Force sync now.
Kitchen Display is an add-on. If Settings → Modules has the Kitchen Display sync toggle greyed out, your store doesn't have the KDS add-on active. Enable it from Account → Add-ons in the mobile app or landing dashboard.
