Label and Sticker Printing
Regular printing is included in every plan. Printing on die-cut labels (pre-cut stickers on a backing) with a label printer is the Advanced Printing add-on. It gives you a die-cut printer option with live preview, product barcode labels, order-item stickers and bag tags.
Before you start

- The Printers · Modify permission.
- A label printer and label stock.
Steps
Turn on printing and add the printer
Make sure printing is on in Preferences. Go to Configurations → Printers → Add, name it and pick Bluetooth, Network, USB or Serial.
Choose the label settings
Under Label configuration set the Command language to match the printer (ESC/POS, TSPL or ZPL), the Media type and a Label size (or Custom). Choosing TSPL or ZPL sets Media to Die-cut label for you. Check the live preview and save.
Route order stickers (optional)
On the printer's routing rules, add an assignment with the Label function so order-item stickers print automatically. To sticker only some items, use Chosen items and pick categories or products.
Print a product barcode label
Open a product, enter a Barcode (or tap Generate Code), save, then tap Print barcode label. Choose the label type, printer, size and copies, check the preview and print. The printed barcode scans back into the register.
Test print
Use Test print on the printer's detail page to send a small test label before the first real print.

What happens next
- Stickers print through the Hub for USB, Network and Serial printers, from the phone for Bluetooth, and always through the Hub from a web browser.
Edge cases
- The command language must match the printer. A Zebra set to TSPL or a TSC set to ZPL feeds a blank label or nothing. ESC/POS suits cheap 2 to 3 inch sticker printers, TSPL suits TSC and many Xprinter models, ZPL suits Zebra and is best for 4 by 6 labels.
- Media type. Receipt roll is plain paper. Label roll (continuous) is adhesive material with no gaps. Die-cut labels are pre-cut with detectable edges. A wrong choice wastes a roll: die-cut set with a continuous roll hunts for gaps and feeds blanks. On ESC/POS set it yourself. A TSPL or ZPL printer with a continuous roll prints real labels too.
- Handling options. Label sensing (Gap or Black mark), After each label (Cut, Tear or None) and Orientation (upright or 180 degrees).
- Sizes. Presets such as 2 by 1, 3 by 2, 4 by 6 (TSPL and ZPL only), address, Dymo, round and jewelry, or a Custom size in millimetres with a rectangle, rounded or circle shape. The picker shows only sizes your command language can print. Retail barcodes print sharpest at 300 dpi.
- Presets. The Label type menu lists ready-made layouts filtered by your business type, the printer's language and whether the item has the fields, such as Product Barcode, Price Tag, Cup, Expiration, Serial, Laundry Claim, Shipping and Inventory. Presets are read-only. To draw your own, see Designing Your Own Label.
- Sticker only some items. In a Label rule, switch Items that get a sticker to Chosen items and pick categories and products. With Drinks and Ube Cheesecake chosen, an order of 2 lattes, 1 cheesecake and 1 pasta prints 3 stickers numbered 1 of 3 to 3 of 3. An order with only pasta prints none. A rule set to one label per order prints one tag listing only the covered items.
- Receipts, kitchen tickets, bar slips, queue tickets and claim stubs never go to a die-cut printer or one set to TSPL or ZPL.
- Without the add-on, the server refuses label settings, a TSPL or ZPL language and Label rules with ADVANCED_PRINTING_REQUIRED.
- Reliability. Industrial Zebra and TSC printers are most reliable over USB or network through the Hub. Test Bluetooth label printers before service.
- The image-capability setting on a printer does nothing yet.
