Tax Overview

Tax lets you charge the correct sales tax on products and services. You define rates under Configurations, attach them to catalog items, and they apply automatically when those items are added on the register — unless you remove tax for a specific order.

Paid plan required. Taxes is available on any paid plan (Starter and up). It is not included on the free Basic plan. View plans

On the free Basic plan, Taxes is locked. While locked (or after a downgrade), new orders compute without tax even if tax rows still exist — history keeps whatever tax was recorded when you had the feature. Tax lights up again when you upgrade.

How tax flows

  1. Create tax rates under Configurations → Payments & Tax → Taxes (name, rate type, rate).
  2. Attach a tax to products (and services in the same catalog) via the product form’s Tax tab — pick a tax class and the tax rate.
  3. On the register, tax applies automatically for taxable lines. Use Remove Tax on an item or the order when you need a tax-free sale (for example Senior/PWD where local rules require it).

Store setup templates can seed a default rate (for example 12% VAT) when Tax is available on the plan — see Store setup templates.

Prices you enter already include tax

Fuze Store treats your product prices as tax-inclusive, the normal Philippine practice. A ₱112 product with 12% VAT is not charged ₱125.44 — the ₱112 is the final price, and the VAT portion (₱12) is extracted from it for the receipt and reports. Enter the price you want the customer to pay.

This holds for both rate types. A ₱50 item with a ₱2 fixed tax still sells for ₱50 — ₱2 of it is tax.

The two rate types

Percentage is what almost every store uses — VAT, sales tax, anything expressed as a proportion of the price. A 12% rate on a ₱112 item records ₱12 of tax.

Fixed takes a set amount out of each item's price instead of a proportion. Use it for a flat per-unit levy — a ₱2 plastic-bag charge, a per-bottle excise. It is charged per unit, so ₱2 across three bags is ₱6.

If a fixed amount is larger than the item's price, the whole line is treated as tax rather than producing a negative price.
