Updating a Tax

Change a tax when the rate or label needs to update. Existing catalog attachments keep pointing at the same tax row — they pick up the new rate on new orders after you save.

Paid plan required. Taxes is available on any paid plan (Starter and up). It is not included on the free Basic plan. View plans

Steps

Open the menu

Click the sidebar menu icon to open navigation.

Go to Taxes

Go to Configurations. Under Payments & Tax, select Taxes.

Choose a tax

Tap Edit on the tax you want to change.

Edit details

Update Name, Description, Rate Type, and/or Rate.

Save

Save. New orders pick up the updated rate right away.

Notes

Past completed orders keep the tax amounts that were calculated at sale time — updating a rate does not rewrite history.
If Tax is locked on Basic (or after a downgrade), you cannot manage rates until you upgrade again; stored rates are retained.
