Staff PINs
Each staff member has a numeric PIN. They use it to sign in at a shared terminal and to approve actions when they are a manager. The PIN is personal -- it identifies who is working and who authorized what.
PIN rules
- The PIN is 4 to 6 digits.
- It must be numeric only.
- After 5 wrong attempts in a row, the PIN locks for about 5 minutes.
The lockout protects against someone guessing a PIN. It clears automatically once the wait passes.
Set or change your own PIN
You manage your own PIN from your profile, in the Staff PIN card. Changing it requires your current PIN.
Open your Staff PIN card
Go to your own staff profile and find the Staff PIN card.
Enter your current PIN
If you already have a PIN, enter it to confirm it's you. If you have no PIN yet, you skip straight to the next step.
Enter your new PIN
Type a new PIN that follows the rules above.
Confirm the new PIN
Re-type the same PIN to confirm. Save, and your new PIN is active right away.
You can also remove your own PIN from the same card. Removing it means you can no longer sign in with a PIN until a new one is set.
Reset a staff member's PIN (manager)
An owner or manager can set or reset any staff member's PIN. You do not need to know their current PIN.
Open the staff member's profile
Go to the staff list and open the person whose PIN you want to reset.
Find their Staff PIN card
Open the Staff PIN card on their profile.
Set a new PIN
Enter a new PIN that follows the rules and save. Share it with the staff member so they can sign in.
You can also remove a staff member's PIN from here. Once removed, that person cannot sign in with a PIN until a new one is set.
Self versus admin
A staff member changing their own PIN must enter their current PIN. A manager resetting someone else's PIN does not -- the manager's own authority is enough.
