Stock Transfers

Transfers move inventory between locations of the same store, such as back room to front counter. Moving stock to another store is a cross-store transfer.

Before you start

The Advanced Inventory add-on, with at least two active locations.
The Inventory · Modify permission.

Steps

Open Transfers and tap New Transfer

Go to Advanced Inventory → Transfers and tap New Transfer.

Pick the locations and items

Choose From and To, which must differ (a swap button flips them), add items with a quantity of at least one, and a note. Tap Save. It is created as Pending.

Ship

Open the pending transfer and tap Ship Transfer. It ships every item at its full outstanding quantity, with no confirm step.

Receive

At the destination open the transfer and tap Receive Transfer. It takes in everything shipped.

What happens next

Stock leaves the source on ship, as a "transfer out" movement, and arrives on receive, as a "transfer in". The destination's average cost is blended with the source's cost. The status becomes Received once everything shipped has arrived.

Edge cases

Numbers. TRF-000001 and up, counted per store. Older ones such as TRF-7KQ2M9XA keep their code.
Statuses. Draft shown as Pending, Shipped or Partially Shipped, Received, Cancelled.
The source always loses the stock, even if it never held the item. It goes below zero unless your store prevents negative stock, in which case the ship is refused and nothing ships.
Cancel a transfer that is not received. A draft changes no stock. Cancelling after a ship puts back at the source only what was shipped and has not arrived. What already arrived stays at the destination.
Approval does not apply to transfers. It covers purchase orders, adjustments and counts.
Locations. A person limited to other locations cannot ship from, or receive at, them. Cancel does not check the limit.
The list can be searched by transfer number and filtered by status.
