Using the POS Register

The POS Register is your checkout screen. Add catalog products and services (or open-amount custom lines), apply charges and discounts, attach a customer when needed, then submit and record payment into your store’s cash / e-wallet / bank account. Fuze does not process card or wallet checkout for POS sales.

Plans & add-ons

POS and catalogs are available on every plan, including free Basic. Tables / units and tax exemption on the register need Starter+. Gift cards and require open cashier session need their respective add-ons. See Subscription Overview and the Add-ons Guide.

Opening the register

  1. Open the store app and select your store.
  2. From the main menu, open POS (or Point of Sale).

  1. Open Register.
  2. If your store uses the Store Session add-on and require open session is on, a cashier session must be open before you can create orders. Staff with the Sessions permission can start the session from the gate; staff with only Point of Sale see an ask a manager screen until someone with Sessions permission opens the shift.

Adding items

From the catalog

  1. Browse or search products and services (unified catalog — both appear in the item grid).
  2. Tap an item to add it to the cart.
  3. If the item has modifiers (size, extras, …), choose options, then Add to order.
  4. Adjust quantity from the line or cart summary.

The item screen totals show how the price was built up — base price, each paid
option, and any discount — ending in the line total. On a phone the build-up is
collapsed; tap the arrow above the line total to open it. Reopening a line you
already added shows Update instead.

If the button is greyed out it names what is missing, for example
Select Size when a required option has not been chosen.

Unavailable / out-of-stock active items may still appear with an unavailable state so you can see why they cannot sell.

Custom (product-less) lines

  1. Use the custom item control in the register header (or add from the cart summary when offered).
  2. Enter a name and price (open amount — no catalog product).
  3. Confirm — the line is tax-free and does not move inventory.

Use this for one-off amounts that are not on the menu.

Charges (named fees)

  1. In the cart / order summary, open Charges.
  2. Toggle auto-apply charges off to exclude them for this order, or toggle non-auto charges on to apply.
  3. Optionally add a one-off custom charge with its own name and amount.
  4. Totals update with named fees (service charge, corkage, rush, …). Delivery fee is not managed as a charge — it is separate when your service mode uses delivery.

See Charges Overview.

Discounts

  1. Open Discounts / discount controls on the order.
  2. Apply an eligible store discount (including Senior / PWD where configured).
  3. Confirm — totals recalculate.

See Applying a Discount to an Order.

Customer

  1. Open Customer on the order summary.
  2. Search an existing customer or enter details for this sale.
  3. Save — useful for pickup, receipts, and (on paid plans) later email notify.

Tables / units (Starter+)

If your plan includes units and the store uses dine-in / table service:

  1. Open Units (grid or live floor when Floor Plan is enabled).
  2. Select a table / unit, then make or view the order.

Starter+

Areas and units are not on free Basic. Without the feature, skip this step — counter and takeaway flows work without tables.

Tax exemption (Starter+)

When Taxes is on your plan and configured:

  1. Open tax / exemption controls on the order if offered.
  2. Apply exemption only when policy allows (e.g. VAT-exempt sale).

Starter+

Tax application and exemption UI are plan-gated. On Basic, new orders compute without tax even if old tax rows still exist in the database.

Gift cards (add-on)

Redeeming or selling gift cards on the register requires the Gift Cards add-on. See later Gift Cards guides — not part of core Basic POS.

Reviewing the cart

Before you submit:

  • Every line (catalog + custom) looks correct
  • Charges and discounts match the sale
  • Customer / unit / service details are filled when your store requires them
  • Total matches what the customer should pay

Submitting and taking payment

  1. Tap the primary submit / pay control (label depends on your default order state — many counter templates open payment in a complete flow).
  2. Tap the tender the customer actually used — cash, an e-wallet, a bank transfer, or a card on your own terminal. Your methods appear as large tiles, most-used first.
  3. For an exact sale, don’t touch the keypad. It starts empty and already shows the balance due, so the button reads Pay ₱93.50 · Cash straight away. One tap finishes the sale.
  4. Taking a larger note? Type it, or tap one of the round-up chips beside the keypad — they offer the next real banknotes above the balance, never odd amounts nobody hands over. The screen shows the change owed before you confirm, so you can count it out while the customer is still in front of you.
  5. Non-cash tenders show your own QR and account details right on the screen for the customer to scan, plus a field for the reference number from their app or your terminal slip. Tap Enlarge to show the QR full-screen to someone standing further back, or Show on display to put it on the customer-facing screen.
  6. Splitting across two tenders? Just key the first amount. If it’s less than the balance the button changes to Add — it stages that payment, clears the pad, and shows what’s left. Add as many as you need; the last one submits them all together.
  7. Confirm. The button always states exactly what pressing it will do, and when it can’t be pressed it says why on the line underneath. Fuze records the payment — money moves in your account or drawer, not through a Fuze payment gateway.

Manual settlement

POS payments are record-keeping into the store’s own tender — Fuze does not run a payment gateway for register sales. Add payment methods under Payment Methods.

  1. The result screen leads with the number you need next — change due, a balance still owed, or paid in full — with the full receipt below it.
  2. Print or share a receipt when printing is enabled and a printer is set up.

On a computer

The payment screen takes the keyboard: type the amount on the number row, press Enter to pay, Esc to close. Tab reaches the reference field.

Not enough to finish?

Save as partial payment records what you’ve collected and leaves the order open, so the customer can settle the rest later.

Tips

  • Prefer catalog items when stock or modifiers matter; use custom lines only for true open amounts
  • Keep Senior / PWD discounts configured before peak hours
  • Train staff that Notify (email / SMS) is separate from completing the sale — Email Notifications is Starter+/trial; SMS needs the SMS add-on, Settings on, and Wallet points (see Managing Orders)
