How to Delete a Role

Add-on required. This feature requires the Roles & Permissions add-on to be active on your store. View add-ons

You may need to remove a role that is no longer needed -- a test role, an outdated position, or a duplicate. There are two ways to delete a role.

Option 1: Delete from the Roles List

  1. Open the sidebar menu.
  2. Select Store from the menu. You will see a list of store settings.
  3. Select Roles & Permissions to open the roles management page.
  4. Find the role you want to delete.
  5. Click the Delete icon (trash can) in the action column.
  6. Confirm by clicking Yes or Confirm. The role is permanently removed.

Option 2: Delete from the Role Details Page

  1. Open the sidebar menu.
  2. Select Store from the menu. You will see a list of store settings.
  3. Select Roles & Permissions to open the roles management page.
  4. Find the role you want to delete.
  5. Click the Edit button to open the role details page.
  6. Click the Delete button on the details page.
  7. Confirm by clicking Yes or Confirm. The role is permanently removed.

Deleting a Role That Has Staff

If any staff are still assigned to the role, Fuze Store warns you before deleting. The confirmation tells you how many staff are affected, and that they will be unassigned and lose the access the role granted. You can continue or cancel.

To avoid leaving anyone without access, reassign those staff to another role first, then delete the empty role.

The default role cannot be deleted. Your store's built-in Super Admin role is permanent — you can rename it or change its description, but the Delete action is not available for it.

What Happens When You Delete a Role?

  • The role no longer appears in the list of available roles.
  • Any staff who had the role are unassigned and lose the access it granted (you are warned of this before confirming).
  • You can always create a new role later if your needs change.

Tips

  • Double-check before deleting -- a deleted role cannot be restored.
  • Reassign staff to a different role before deleting so no one loses access unexpectedly.
  • Only delete roles you are sure you no longer need.

Best Practices

  • Review your roles regularly and remove any that are outdated or unused.
  • Keep your list of roles clean for easier management.
  • Communicate changes to your team so everyone knows their responsibilities.
