How to Delete a Gift Card

When a gift card is no longer needed, you can remove it to keep your list clean.

Before you start

The Gift Cards · Delete permission.

Steps

Go to Gift Cards

Open the sidebar menu and select Gift Cards.

Choose Delete

Find the card and tap its Delete button (the row button, the tile's menu, or Delete at the bottom of the card's page). It shows to staff who may delete gift cards.

Confirm

Confirm the deletion when prompted.

What happens next

The card leaves your list, and the register can no longer find its code, so it cannot be checked or redeemed for new sales.
Its records are kept, not erased. Orders that used it, redemptions, and reports still show it.
Other devices are told only on plans with live sync.

Edge cases

Its code stays taken. A new card cannot use a deleted card's code, because the old card may still be in a customer's wallet.
Any balance left is not paid out. The card is hidden whatever it has left.
Deleted cards cannot be restored. To pause one instead, turn Enable off.
Deleting from the card's own page takes the app to Categories instead of back to Gift Cards. Go back to Gift Cards from the menu.
