How to Create a Gift Card

Follow these steps to add a new gift card to your store.

Before you start

The Gift Cards add-on is active.
The Gift Cards · Modify permission.

Steps

Go to Gift Cards

Open the sidebar menu and select Gift Cards.

Tap New Gift Card

Tap New Gift Card. It shows to staff who may change gift cards.

Fill in the details

Turn Enable on. Enter the Amount to load. Set Max Usage (leave 0 for unlimited). Enter a unique Code, such as "GC2025". Add an optional Description, an Expires At date (blank for no expiry), and a Customer the card belongs to. See the Gift Card Overview.

Save

Tap Save. The card is ready to sell or give. You return to Gift Cards, where the new card is at the top.

What happens next

The card exists with its full amount as the balance, in your store's currency, with no uses yet. Other devices are told only on plans with live sync.

Edge cases

Codes are never reused. A code used by any card in your store, a deleted card included, is refused, because the printed card may still be in someone's wallet.
Amount at least 1, and a code are required.
Creating a card does not record a sale. If a customer pays you for it, record that sale separately.
Set an expiry for seasonal or limited-time cards. Double-check the value and code before saving.
