How to Create a Discount

Follow these steps to set up a new discount for your store.

Before you start

A discount plan: discounts work on every plan.
The Discounts · Modify permission.

Steps

Go to Discounts

Open the sidebar menu and select Discounts.

Tap New Discount

Tap New Discount.

Fill in the details

Turn Enable on. Enter a Name (for example "10% Off Drinks") and a Code, which is required (for example OPEN10). Staff pick the discount by name at the register, and the code identifies it in exports and reports. Public is required. Choose Rate Type and enter the Rate. Add an optional Description. Limited time is off by default, which means the discount never expires. Turn it on to set From (optional, blank starts now) and To (required).

Save

Tap Save. The discount is available for future sales.

What happens next

The saved and register discount lists are cleared, so the new discount shows at once. Other devices are told only on plans with live sync.

Edge cases

What the app checks. A name and a code, a rate of 0 or more, and a percentage of at most 100. With Limited time on, an end date is needed and must come after the start. The rate is rounded to 2 places and the store's currency is copied on.
Codes are unique. No two discounts or coupons in a store share a code. A repeat is refused as already existing.
Only the app caps a percentage at 100. The server does not. An imported or API-made negative discount raises the price at the register, and one over 100% pushes lines below zero.
Limits are not editable. The server can store a use limit, a per-customer limit, a minimum order amount, and a scope, but the app has no fields for them, nothing enforces them, and every save from the app clears them.
A start date hides it from the register, as described in the Discount Overview.
Mandated discounts. In the Philippines a registered store gets Senior Citizen and PWD discounts (20% each) set up at store creation, and grocery, convenience, and drugstore types also get Solo Parent. They take the percentage off the price after the tax is removed: on a ₱112 item with 12% VAT, 20% off leaves ₱89.60, which is 20% off the ₱100 net price.
