How to Remove a Payment Method from Your Store
Applies toEvery plan, including free BasicNeeds Payment Methods · Modify; Payment Methods · DeleteUsually owner, manager
If you no longer accept a payment method, delete it so it no longer appears at checkout. To only pause it, turn Enable off instead.
Before you start
- The Payment Methods · Delete permission.
Steps
1
Go to Payment Methods
Open the sidebar menu, go to Configurations, and select Payment Methods.

2
Delete
Tap Delete on the row, Remove in the card menu, or Delete on the payment method's page. It shows only to people who may delete payment methods.

3
Confirm
A confirmation prompt appears. Confirm to finish.

What happens next
- The method no longer appears when recording a new payment, and it leaves the storefront. The store's public page is refreshed.
- If it was your default, the default is cleared. Pick a new one under Configurations → Preferences → Point of Sale. Turning Enable off does the same.
- You can add the method again later with New Payment Method.
Edge cases
- Past sales keep their tender. Removing a method hides it rather than erasing it, so orders, transactions, the Sales by Payment Methods report, the Z-report tender breakdown, and reprinted receipts still show it.
- Other devices keep offering the removed default until they reload settings. They refresh their payment method list but are not told the settings changed.
- Prefer Enable off if you might reuse the method soon. It stays in the list and you can switch it back on without re-adding it.
- Without a default, Preferences cannot save until you pick one on the Point of Sale tab again.
