How to Create a Charge

Follow these steps to add a named order-level charge to your store catalog.

Open the menu

Click the sidebar menu icon to open navigation.

Go to Charges

Go to Configurations. Under Payments & Tax, select Charges.

Add a charge

Tap New Charge.

Fill in the details

Fill in the charge details. See Field Explanations for more detail.

  • Enable — turn on to make the charge active.
  • Name — e.g. Service charge, Corkage, Rush fee.
  • Rate Type — Fixed, or Percentage of the order total after discounts.
  • Rate — the amount or percentage.
  • Auto-apply — optionally apply this charge to new orders by default.
  • Service Modes — appears only with Auto-apply on. Limits the automatic application to specific modes; leave it empty for all. A charge the cashier picks by hand applies whatever the order's service mode is, so there is nothing to scope.

Save

Tap Save. The charge is available on the POS register Charges sheet.

Tips

  • Seeded template charges (when present) can be edited here instead of creating duplicates.
  • Percentage rates should match the policy you publish to guests (for example 10% service charge).
