# Customer Display Screen

Put the live queue on a tablet or monitor facing your lobby. Guests see who is being called and where they stand in line — without asking staff.

This is the **Waiting List** display mode (a dedicated queue board). It is separate from the [Customer Facing Display (CFD)](/docs/store/customer-display/overview) cart screen used at checkout.

## What Guests See

The Waiting List display is a full-screen board. It does not show cart items or payment status.

| Area | What appears |
|------|----------------|
| **Now Serving** | Parties you have **Called** — the current turn |
| **Waiting** | Parties still in line, with party size and how long they have been waiting |
| **Estimated wait** | Optional minutes you set when adding someone to the queue |
| **Empty state** | Your store logo and a short “no one waiting” message when the queue is clear |

Wait times age on screen (color cues as a party waits longer) so staff and guests can spot long waits at a glance. How many waiting parties appear is controlled by your store’s queue display preferences (for example, max visible entries).

## Requirements

- An active **Waiting List Management** add-on on your store
- A second device (tablet, monitor, or any screen that can run Fuze Store)
- Permission to manage or view Displays for your store
- A way for the display to receive live updates — either **Fuze Store Hub** on your local network, or an internet connection for **cloud** sync (see below)

## How Updates Reach the Screen

The Waiting List board stays in sync in **two** ways. You can use either — or both.

### Over Fuze Store Hub (local network)

When Fuze Store Hub is running and your POS is paired, queue changes travel over your store Wi‑Fi. That path is fast and keeps working if the internet drops, as long as the display and POS stay on the same network as the Hub.

For Hub install and pairing, see [First-Time Setup](/docs/hub/first-time-setup).

### Over the cloud (WebSocket)

When Hub LAN is not available, the display still refreshes from the Fuze Store cloud in real time (same waiting-list events your POS already uses). You need a working internet connection on the display device.

For the best experience, run **Fuze Store Hub** and keep your POS paired — Display settings will remind you when Hub is not set up. Unlike the CFD **cart** screen (Hub-only), the Waiting List board can still update over the cloud without Hub.

## Set Up the Display

Use the device that will face customers (not your main register, unless you are testing).

On the display device, open Fuze Store and select your store.
Go to **Configurations → Display** (or **Display Settings**).
Turn on **External Display** so this device acts as a customer screen.
Under **Display Modes**, choose **Waiting List**. That sets the screen to the full-time queue board.
Open **Displays** from the app (store navigation). Fuze Store launches the Waiting List board fullscreen.

You should see **Now Serving** and the waiting list update as staff add, call, skip, or complete parties on the POS.

### Optional: limit which terminals update this screen

On the same Display settings screen, **Monitored Terminals** lets you list specific POS Device IDs. Leave the list empty to reflect queue activity from every register. Add IDs only if you want this board to follow a subset of terminals.

## Using the Board Day to Day

Staff keep managing the queue on the POS as usual — see [Managing the Queue](/docs/store/waiting-list/managing-queue). The customer screen mirrors that list:

1. A party is added → they appear under **Waiting**.
2. Staff presses **Call** → the party moves to **Now Serving**.
3. Staff marks **Done** or **Cancel** → they leave the board.
4. Skip / return-to-queue actions update the board the same way.

Guests do not interact with the display. To text a party, use **Send SMS** on the queue entry (SMS add-on) — see [Managing the Queue](/docs/store/waiting-list/managing-queue). Call does not send SMS automatically.

## Waiting List Board vs CFD Cart Display

| | **Waiting List display** | **Customer Facing Display (CFD)** |
|--|--------------------------|-----------------------------------|
| **Add-on** | Waiting List Management | Customer Facing Display |
| **Purpose** | Full-time queue / Now Serving board | Live cart and payment during checkout |
| **Connection** | Hub LAN **or** cloud WebSocket | **Fuze Store Hub only** (local Wi‑Fi) |
| **Where to enable** | Display Modes → **Waiting List** | Display Modes → **Customer Facing Display** |

CFD can also show a small queue view while **idle** between transactions. That is still the CFD product. For a lobby screen that only shows the queue, use the Waiting List display mode documented here.

## Troubleshooting

### Board not updating

1. Confirm the **Waiting List Management** add-on is active and External Display is on with mode **Waiting List**.
2. If you rely on Hub: Hub is running, POS is paired, and **Use this Hub** is on — see [First-Time Setup](/docs/hub/first-time-setup).
3. If you rely on cloud: the display device has internet and you are signed into the correct store.
4. Refresh or reopen **Displays** on the second device after changing Display Modes.

### Wrong parties or missing updates from one register

Check **Monitored Terminals**. An empty list mirrors every terminal; a partial list only follows those Device IDs.

### Looking for the cart / payment screen instead

That is the CFD product — see [Setting Up CFD](/docs/store/customer-display/setting-up-cfd). Switch Display Modes to **Customer Facing Display** (requires the CFD add-on and Hub).
