# How to Create a Tax

Follow these steps to add a new tax rate to your store.

## Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open the **sidebar menu**.
2. Select **Store Settings**.
3. Select **Taxes** to open the tax management page.
4. Click the **Add Tax** button.
5. Fill in the required fields. See [Field Explanations](/docs/store/tax/overview#field-explanations) for details on each field.
6. Click **Save**. Your new tax will apply to future sales.

## Tips

- Use clear, descriptive names so staff and customers understand the tax.
- Verify your local tax rates before saving.
- You can edit or remove any tax later if rates or laws change.
- Ask your accountant if you are unsure which rate to use.

- Review your tax settings regularly, especially after menu or price changes.
