# Store Setup Templates

When you create a store, Fuze Store offers **business-type templates** to give you a head start. Pick the one that matches your business and Fuze Store pre-fills a sensible starting setup, so you spend less time configuring and more time selling.

Templates are completely **optional**. The default choice is **Custom**, which sets nothing up beyond the basics — perfect if you prefer to build your store your own way.

## What a template does

Choosing a business-type template (like Restaurant, Cafe, Retail, Salon, or Car Wash) pre-configures a few things for you:

| What it sets up | Details |
| --- | --- |
| **Store preferences** | Sensible defaults for how this kind of business operates (service modes, fees, customer/staff requirements, printing). |
| **Common taxes** | Typical tax rows for your business type — for example a standard VAT rate. |
| **Starter staff roles** | A small set of ready-made roles such as Manager, Cashier, Kitchen Staff, or Server, picked to fit the business. |

It does **not** add products or payment methods — you'll add those yourself afterward.

## Choosing a template

Begin the **Add Store** flow from your account or the app. The first step is the template picker.

Select the template that best matches your business. The recommended, pre-selected default is **Custom**, which seeds nothing. Picking a niche is just a shortcut.

If you chose a template, a short **Configuration** step shows the most important settings already filled in (such as tax and service/delivery fees, customer and staff requirements, and printing). Adjust anything, or accept the defaults.

Complete the rest of the store details and save. Your store is created with the template's setup applied.

A template is a starting point, never a cage. Everything it sets up can be changed afterward on your **Preferences** and **Settings** screens. You're never locked into a template's choices.

## Templates and your plan

Template setup respects your subscription, so it never creates something you can't use yet:

- On the **free Basic plan**, taxes are turned off — so a template skips seeding tax rows until you upgrade. Your settings are still applied.
- Starter staff **roles** are only seeded when the Roles & Permissions add-on is available (it's included free during a trial).
- The single owner role and your basic preferences are always created, on every plan.

This means a brand-new free store won't be cluttered with settings for features it can't access yet — those appear when you enable the matching plan or add-on.

## Custom (the default)

If you pick **Custom** (or simply leave the default selected), your store is created with only the essentials: the owner role and the standard default preferences. Nothing business-type-specific is added. This is the right choice if your business doesn't fit a template, or if you'd rather configure everything deliberately.

## Tips

- If you're unsure, pick the closest template — you can change anything later, and it saves setup time.
- After creating the store, visit **Preferences** to fine-tune anything the template set.
- Templates don't add products — head to your catalog to add what you sell.
