# Cash Variance Report

## Open the report

1. Drawer → **Reports** → **Financial & Inventory** → **Cash Variance**.
2. Choose a period. Periods use your store's timezone and weeks start **Monday**.

## What you see

Three KPIs — **Total Variance**, **Sessions Over**, and **Sessions Under** — then one row per closed cashier session showing the staff member, the variance (green when over, red when short), and the expected vs. counted closing cash.

Variance is counted cash minus expected cash, where expected is:

```
starting cash + session sales − session refunds
```

Only **closed** sessions appear, dated by when they were closed. An open shift shows up here after the cashier closes it.

  Sessions are created by the **Store Session** add-on. Without it there are no
  closed sessions to measure, so the report stays empty even on Lite and above.

Set what counts as a small, reviewable, or escalated variance in **Preferences → Policies → Cash variance**.
