# How to Delete a Category

# How to Delete a Category

If you no longer need a category -- maybe you stopped offering certain products or want to tidy up your menu -- you can remove it in a few clicks. There are two ways to delete a category.

## Option 1: Delete from the Category List

1. **Open the menu** -- Click the sidebar menu icon to open navigation.
2. **Go to Categories** -- Select **Categories** from the menu list.
3. **Find the category** -- Locate the category you want to delete (for example, "Snacks").
4. **Delete** -- Click the trash bin icon in the action column.
5. **Confirm** -- A confirmation prompt appears. Click **Yes** or **Confirm** to finish.

## Option 2: Delete from the Category Details

1. **Open the menu** -- Click the sidebar menu icon to open navigation.
2. **Go to Categories** -- Select **Categories** from the menu list.
3. **Choose a category** -- Click the category you want to delete (for example, "Drinks").
4. **Delete** -- Click the trash bin icon at the bottom of the page.
5. **Confirm** -- A confirmation prompt appears. Click **Yes** or **Confirm** to finish.

## What Happens When You Delete a Category

- The category is removed from your POS and menus right away.
- Products or services in that category are **not** deleted. They simply lose their category grouping.
- You can always create a new category later if needed.

## Tips

- **Deletion is permanent** -- double-check before you confirm.
- If you only want to hide a category temporarily, make it inactive instead of deleting it.
- Remove unused categories regularly to keep your catalog organized.
