# Catalog Sync

Catalog Sync lets you maintain your product details **once** — in a designated **master** store — and push them to every linked store in your organization. It keeps the shared parts of a product consistent across all your branches without editing each store by hand.

Catalog Sync copies the **name** and **description** of a product from the
  master store to its [linked
  copies](/docs/account/organizations/organization-inventory) in your other
stores, and those two fields become read-only at the branches. The **price**
follows the master too — unless a branch turns on its own **custom price**.
Each store always keeps its own SKU, cost, tax, stock, and availability —
  those are never overwritten.

## Choosing a Master Store

1. In the **Fuze Store app** (this is app-only — the website has no Catalog Sync card), open **Account → Organizations → _your organization_ → Catalog Sync**.
2. Under **Master store**, choose which store holds the authoritative product details.
3. Only stores in your organization appear. You can change the master or clear it at any time.

## Pushing Updates to Your Stores

Sync is **on demand** — you decide when to push.

1. With a master store selected, tap **Sync now** under **Push to stores**.
2. Confirm the prompt. The master's **name** and **description** are copied to every linked product across your stores, and the **price** is updated for every branch that follows the master (branches with a custom price keep theirs).
3. A confirmation shows how many product groups were synced and how many products were updated.

Editing a product in the master store does not sync automatically — you push
the changes yourself with **Sync now**. This lets you make several edits and
roll them out in one step.

## Managed Products

Once a store is designated the master and products are linked, the **identity** fields at the **other** stores become **read-only**. When you open such a product in a member store:

- The **Name** and **Description** fields are locked, with a note that they're managed by your organization's master catalog.
- Other fields — SKU, cost, barcode, stock, availability, special price — stay fully editable at each store.

To edit a managed field at a member store, remove that product from its [link group](/docs/account/organizations/organization-inventory) first. Unlinking never changes the product's data — it just releases the field so the store can edit it again.

## Custom Price for a Branch

Price is **branch-owned**. By default a linked product follows the master's price, but any branch can set its own.

1. Open the linked product at the branch store and go to the **Pricing** tab.
2. Turn on **Custom price for this branch**. The price field unlocks.
3. Enter the branch's price and save.

A branch with a custom price keeps it every time you **Sync now** — only its
name and description update from the master. Turn the toggle **off** to follow
the master again, and the price snaps back to the master's price.

This is how you run "same menu, mostly the same price, a few branches priced differently" without unlinking anything.

## Cloning a Catalog to a New Branch

When you open a new store, you don't have to rebuild its menu by hand. **Clone catalog to a branch** copies one store's whole catalog into another and links the products so the master catalog can keep them in sync.

1. On the **Catalog Sync** screen, tap **Clone catalog**.
2. Choose the store to **copy from** (usually your master or an established branch) and the store to **copy to**.
3. Confirm. Categories, modifiers, taxes, products, and services are copied, and each new product is automatically linked to its source.

Cloning the same catalog a second time **updates** matching items instead of
duplicating them, so you can re-run it after adding products to the source.
The copy is a head start — each branch still keeps its own SKU, cost, stock,
availability, and (if set) custom price.
